The Team
Justin Smith Architects are a small team of dedicated and skilled professionals, supplemented by outsourced specialist skills to suit individual projects. Key members are as follows:
Justin Smith
Chartered Architect
BA (Hons), B(Arch), RIBA
Justin graduated from the Hull School of Architecture in 1993 & 1996 with an excellent design portfolio. Following his academic career he spent several years in professional practice working for a number of leading practice’s locally, as well as working abroad. He has experience as a project architect in many sectors; including residential, hotels, laboratories, community, office and sports stadia. Project values have ranged from tens of millions of pounds to tens of thousands of pounds.
Justin then set up his own practice in 2002 and has steadily grown his client base and practice due to his customer focus, added value service and innovative approach.

Joe Boyce
Chartered Architectural Technologist
BSc (Hons), Dip B.S., MCIAT, RIBA
Joe is the newest member of our team, having joined in April 2008. He brings eleven years worth of professional experience to the practice, having worked with a number of leading practices, mainly multi disciplinary consultants, covering Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape, and Town Planning.
Joe has worked in Cyprus on a luxury golf resort project, with initial involvement at Masterplanning stage of the project, working alongside the UK consultant team. Joe has also served the University of Derby, as an Associate Lecturer for a number of their Architectural and Built Environment Courses. Joe has particular interests and skills in masterplanning, landscape design and 3d design.
Richard Hall
Architectural Technician & EPC Assessor
BSc (Hons)
Richard has many years experience working in architectural practice having worked with leading practice’s locally. He has been involved in many project sectors covering residential, industrial and office schemes. He also has the benefit of being a qualified EPC Assessor.
Charity Smith
Practice Manager
HNC, RSA
Charity, having many years experience in administration roles, joined in 2003 as practice manager. Charity also has the benefit of a HNC in graphic design, thereby adding to the creative process.
Specialist Skills
The designs of buildings are subject to constantly evolving and complex issues. Planning legislation, sustainability issues, environmental impact assessments and building regulations are just a few issues which affect building design. We therefore bring specialist skills in-house where necessary to suit the project. These may include:
Arboriculturalists, Ecological Consultants, Sustainability Consultants, Land and Building Surveyors or Energy Consultants.
Consultants
Health and Safety during construction and use, cost control, procurement, structures, heating and lighting systems; construction is becoming increasingly diverse and will always require a team of talented professionals to get the job done. Justin Smith Architects can recommend the best design team to suit any project. We collaborate with consultants on a daily basis covering:
Structural Engineers, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers, Quantity Surveyors, Project Managers, CDM Co-ordinators.
